Eritrean Football

In the 1950’s and 1960’s Eritrean soccer was highly developed and in fact Eritrea had some of the best players in the African continent. In 1962 when Ethiopia, with whom Eritrea was federated, won the Africa Cup, the majority of the squad including 8 of the starting eleven were Eritreans! This fact is a source of great pride to Eritrean soccer fans!

Now that Eritrean children can once again enjoy some peace and can pursue their education and some of their childhood activities, it is hoped that the most popular sport will once again get a chance to flourish and contribute to the quality of life of children. However, this is greatly hampered by lack of the basic requirements such as soccer balls, uniforms and shoes.

Berhane and Berhane appeal to all lovers of soccer to help by making contributions to Soccer Balls For Eritrea. In order to help a larger number of children they have expanded their appeal to all soccer loving people. Soccer equipment and money will be gratefully accepted. All financial contributions will be tax deductible and every penny will be used to purchase soccer equipment and/or to ship the equipment to Eritrea.
